Hope Town

Abaco * Bahamas

Located on the island of Elbow Cay (pronounced "Key"), in the Abacos of the Bahamas, Hope Town was settled by loyalists to England in 1785 during America's Revolutionary War.

One of 750 islands of the Bahamas, Elbow Cay is approximately 6 miles long and 1/2 mile wide. It is bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the west by the Sea of Abaco

In 1863, the British Imperial Lighthouse Service erected a lighthouse to mark Elbow Reef - a graveyard for shipping in the nineteenth century. Today this candy-striped lighthouse is still one of the three remaining lighthouses in the world that is hand lit and wound every night to guide ships and travelers on their journey.

Today, Hope Town is still one of the most unique and picturesque settlements in the Bahamas;

Filled with history, powdery pink beaches, charming old homes and lots of SUN
